Important Announcement – Export Duty on Rice Products

Implication / Effect – Adverse impact for Rice Millers / Exporters

Central Government has decided to levy Export Duty on certain articles at 20% vide their Customs Notification dated 08 September 2022.

The Second Schedule to Customs Tariff (Export Policy) – relevant details are as under:-

Central Government has amended the Export Policy of Broken Rice in terms of DGFT Notification dated 08-09-2022. The details are as under: –

Both Notifications will be effective from 09-09-2022 (Immediate effect)

Only Consignments of Broken Rice (mentioned below) will be allowed to be exported during the period from 09-09-2022 till 15-09-2022. They are:

  1. where loading of Broken Rice on the ship has commenced before 08-09-2022
  2. where the shipping bill is filed, and vessels have already berthed or arrived and anchored in Indian ports and their rotation number has been allocated before this Notification (08-09-2022); The approval of loading in such vessels will be issued only after confirmation by the concerned Port Authorities regarding anchoring / berthing of the ship for loading of Broken Rice prior to the Notification (08-09-2022); and
  3. where Broken Rice consignment has been handed over to the Customs before this Notification (08-09-2022) and is registered in their system.
